Kimberly Ovitz (American, b. 1983) is a photographer, filmmaker, designer, and entrepreneur using art and commerce to inspire and accelerate change.  She took up photography at an early age, always with a camera in hand. Since the late 90's, she has devoted much of her time to visual storytelling - through photography, film, and design.

The onset of the pandemic in 2020, brought a welcome challenge to step outside the container of fashion and portrait photography, shifting her focus towards landscapes and the natural world. This documentation allowed for her continued exploration around relationship to self and other, which grew her fascination around the idea that we are all connected - we are one - animal, human, and planet, ultimately aiming to reconnect humans with the natural world.  A better self, leads to better connection, leads to a better world.

Outside of the studio, Ovitz is a passionate animal rights activist. She co-founded Humane Generation LA, and sits on their California state council to drive and support legislative change. As a certified ashtanga yoga teacher, Ovitz enjoys deepening her constant awe of light in both its spiritual and physical form, further informing her perspective and how she sees the world.

This exhibition is about our humankind connecting, and reconnecting, with the simplicity and beauty of the natural world. Kimberly ventures to uncover beauty in the mundane in her photography of animals, nature and natural landscapes. The images showcased as part of the MOTHER exhibition have been manipulated from color to black and white as a way to submerge viewers in simplicity, something she believes is oftentimes the most challenging objective to achieve as an artist.

Ovitz hopes viewers of this series are able to experience a childlike awe for everything we're made of as human beings, and for the environments we are surrounded by in our everyday lives.
